Claudia Preparata is the Research Director at Transport Workers Union Local 100. Her work at TWU Local 100 focuses on policy issues relating to labor, MTA governance and transparency, as well as the region’s transportation system. In 2005, Claudia played significant role in informing and supporting the union’s internal and external contract negotiations program with the MTA. Prior to Local 100, Claudia worked as a researcher and corporate campaigner for various labor unions, including a five year tenure at UNITE.
The Revson year gave me the opportunity to immerse myself in education reform literature, engage in a year-long analysis of reform proposals, and through coursework, readings, and discussion with Teachers College faculty and students, develop my own ideas about how urban public schools might be improved. The program allowed me to make a critical transition in both where and how I’d previously worked.
